Dr. Hilary Rodrigues BDS, DDPH.RCS(Eng)., MRCD (C), MSC(U.LOND) – Founder and CEO
A successful entrepreneur and passionate advocate for healthy living, Dr. Rodrigues’ career is the result of years of volunteer service combined with savvy business acumen.
He studied dentistry at the University of London, England in 1969 and was appointed a lecturer at the Royal Dental Hospital. He subsequently moved to Whitbourne, Newfoundland in 1974 to found the rural practice he continues to service today.
Dedicated to volunteerism, Dr. Rodrigues has served not only his local, but the international community in many capacities. As both a mayor and deputy mayor of his municipality, an International Red Cross delegate, a member of the Canadian Agri-Foods Marketing Council and past chairman of the food and beverage committee of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Newfoundland and Labrador branch, Dr. Rodrigues has demonstrated an astute capacity to build bridges across many different forums. His appointment to the Premier’s Committee, “Social Strategic Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador” in 2002 is a case in point for Dr. Rodrigues’ wide sphere of influence.
He founded the Rodrigues Winery, Newfoundland and Labrador’s first commercial winery and quickly developed an extensive network of contacts in the food and beverage industry in North America. Since the company’s humble beginnings in 1993, it has grown into an award-winning exporter of unique berry-flavoured wine. It was certified Kosher in 1998, making Rodrigues Winery the only Canadian winery with this distinction. The company currently distributes its products in Canada, the U.S. and Japan.
Late in 2011, Dr. Rodrigues expanded into the health food market founding Sedna Nutraceuticals Inc. Foods such as blueberries, partridgeberries, cranberries and sea-buckthorn have a medicinal effect on human health and the Company uses cutting edge technologies for the production of nutrients, such as vitamin supplements.
Dr. Rodrigues joins Stevia Nutra Corporation as CEO and will be instrumental in ensuring the company becomes the world’s foremost producer of high quality stevia.
Barrie Rogers- Director/Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Rogers, is the CEO of Chia Bia, a partner company of Sedna Nutra. He has worked for Intel for seven years, then worked as training manager with Nypro, then spent three years as an independent financial consultant. During his career Barrie has gained extensive experience in various management roles and is ideally suited with his role as Chief Operations Officer.

Mrs. Collins has spent the past eight years as the Officer Manager/Financial Officer of NNNI/Sedna Nutra Inc as well as Markland Cottage Winery Ltd, a sister company of Sedna Nutra.
Lionel Rodrigues – General Manager/Food Engineer
BSc Environmental Science with focus in Food Science (Acadia University)
Lionel’s degree program was first focused in Food Science where he gained experience in working with machines such as spray dryers, counter-current extractors, various forms of food heating and cooling machinery, and exposure to many different industrial food processing plants including both animal and plant-based primary and secondary processing. His prime focus in this program was microbiology and food safety. Environmental science gave him knowledge in efficiency and how to incorporate zero-waste streams in virtually every aspect of business from production to marketing to management.
Steven Thorne: Production Manager
Steven Thorne will monitor and maintain the machinery and optimize mechanics of the production equipment. Mr Thorne is an existing Sedna Nutra employee who has been employed with the company for the past four years. Mr Thorne will provide skills related to equipment operation that he has acquired through on the job training at the facility.
